The salt lake in Yuncheng, also known as China's "Dead Sea" in north Shanxi Province, has turned a variety of stunning colors these days due to temperature and water level changes.

The waters are appearing in red, yellow and green due to algae blooms and the rapid breeding of insects under the water, according to scientific research.

Yuncheng's salt lake is rich in minerals that are said to be beneficial for the skin, similar to Israel's famed Dead Sea.

The lake is one of the three great sodium sulfate inland salt lakes in the world, the other two being the Great Salt Lake in the US and Lake Kuchuk in Russia.
