Argentine football legend Diego Armando Maradona said on Monday that despite the defeat of Mexico, the Aztecs' fighting spirit has already given him joy.
On his World Cup program "By the Hand of the Ten," the 1986 World Cup-winning captain discussed Brazil's win over Mexico to reach the quarter-finals.
Making a comparison between what happened at the ballot box in Mexico's presidential elections, Maradona concluded that Mexico "put everything into the game and fought hard till the end" as they returned home from the World Cup. He also lauded Brazil's win over Mexico and also recognized the fighting spirit of the Mexicans.
