Thousands of peony flowers are on display alongside cultural relics at the Palace Museum in Beijing, welcoming guests from home and abroad to enjoy a visual feast.
The ancient imperial architectural complex lends a unique backdrop to the colorful flowers of some 70 varieties from Heze, east China's Shandong Province. With a long history of cultivation, this city is the country's major peony base with more than 1,200 varieties available.
The museum also set up a digital exhibition hall where visitors can learn more about the flowers through multimedia interactive devices.
Peony-themed handicrafts such as fans and handwoven fabrics are also on display at the exhibition which will run till May 12.
