There is no "vacuum" in Afghanistan that needs to be filled because that land belongs to the people of Afghanistan, Chinese State Councilor and Foreign Minister Wang Yi said Friday, adding that the Middle Eastern country should not be the arena for power rivalries.
Wang made the remarks at a press conference in Beijing on the sidelines of the second session of the 13th National People's Congress (NPC).
This year marks the 100th anniversary since Afghanistan's independence. The Chinese official delivered his sincere wish, hoping Afghan people stay away from conflict and win long-lasting peace.
China calls on the international community to give firm support for the "Afghan-led, Afghan-owned" reconciliation process, and play a constructive role from the sidelines to build momentum for dialogue, Wang said.
