They arrived at the Hanwha Resort in Sokcho, 158 kilometers away from Seoul, early in the morning.
On-site staff from the Korean Red Cross helped the family members arriving at the hotel to confirm and check in before their northward trip.
The participants will spend the day there being briefed on the procedures and protocols for the event, according to the Ministry of Unification.
It is reported that all the family members going to the DPRK will take the bus to enter the Mount Kumgang area on Monday morning.
The two sides will hold two rounds of reunion meetings, the first in three years, at the Mount Kumgang resort on the DPRK's eastern coast.
The first batch of ROK's participants will be reunited with their families from Monday to Wednesday. The second round will be held Friday to Sunday, said Yonhap.
During each of the two three-day reunion sessions, the families are expected to have some 11 hours of face-to-face meetings, according to the ministry.
