Chinese State Councilor and Foreign Minister Wang Yi said China would work with the Dominican Republic to accelerate cooperation across the board to make more contribution to common development.
He made the remarks at a ceremony for the opening of Dominican Republic's embassy in China on Saturday.
Also present at the ceremony were Dominican President Danilo Medina Sanchez and the country's Foreign Minister Miguel Vargas.
The Dominican Republic established diplomatic ties with China on May 1 this year, after severing ties with Taiwan.
In his speech, Wang said the embassies China and the Dominican Republic opened in each other's capital would act as the new link for the comprehensive cooperation between the two countries.
Wang added that the Caribbean island nation's decision to form diplomatic relations with China serves the fundamental interests of the Dominican people and completely conforms to the trend of the times.
For his part, Vargas said the Dominican Republic views China as a reliable partner, and it is willing to forge a bilateral relationship that is mutually beneficial.
President Medina and Wang jointly unveiled the embassy.
Medina is currently in China for an official visit, during which he will also attend the first China International Import Expo scheduled to start from November 5 in Shanghai.
