Drift ice appeared recently in a part of the Heilongjiang River (known as the Amur in Russia) which flows through the China-Russia border. Drift ice, also called brash ice, is carried along by winds and sea currents, and cannot be attached to the shoreline, shoals or other fixed objects. Drift ice is usually caused by temperature changes and can be divided into spring drift ice and autumn drift ice.
