A one-month-old hoolock gibbon was found snuggling up to its mother in the Gaoling Mountain Nature Reserve. The hoolock gibbon is a sensitive and anxious animal that lives deep in the forest. The species gives birth to only one baby every three to four years, with the pregnancy period lasting for around 200 days. It can only conceive a single baby at a time. The hoolock gibbon is a first-class nationally protected animal in China. There are only about 150 of them in the whole country.
