Happy Chinese New Year Performance 2019 kicks off in Copenhagen

The biggest celebration to be jointly held by the Chinese Embassy in Denmark and the Ministry of Culture of China, the Happy Chinese New Year Performance 2019, kicked off in Copenhagen on Monday evening.
On Monday, the Royal Danish Academy of Music will host the gala, which is presented by the China Federation of Literary and Art Circles (CFLAC), which excels at acrobatics and group dancing. They will put on a performance to celebrate the upcoming Chinese Spring Festival of the Year of the Pig.
The performance is a festive event that has been held annually in Denmark since 2001, and each year, it sees a professional Chinese art troupe visit the Nordic country.

Aiming to bring the joyful atmosphere of Chinese New Year to different cities during the dark winter time, the event is well received by Danish audiences and quite popular across the country.
This year's edition showcased acrobatics and music ensembles, group dances and magic from all regions of China.
The shows bring a visual and cultural feast to the audience through combining traditional Chinese dancing styles with exciting acrobatic skills.

For instance, one particular program that wowed the audience is a perfect blend of the Chinese fan dance, Tai Chi and martial arts. This work has won golden prizes in a number of international acrobatics competitions.
More than 1,000 guests, including Chinese Ambassador to Denmark Deng Ying and Danish Cultural Minister Mette Bock, enjoyed the gala. Among the attendees were also diplomatic envoys from Denmark, leaders of local Chinese communities, Chinese students studying in Denmark and Chinese business representatives.
This year's performances will also be held in other Danish cities such as Horsens, Soenderborg, Ballerup, and Aarhus until January 27.
