Chinese President Xi Jinping said Sunday China supports Africa to pursue sustainable self-development and is willing to work with African countries including Senegal to contribute more to the China-Africa comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership.
Xi made the remarks during a meeting with Senegalese President Macky Sall at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing.
Recalling his visit to Senegal in July, Xi said he witnessed the signing of a Belt and Road cooperation document between China and Senegal, and thus Senegal became the first West African country to sign such a deal.
Xi said the consensus reached by him and President Sall is being implemented, and the two countries should continue to communicate closely in a bid to push forward bilateral ties.
Sall, for his part, said China always understands, respects and supports Africa, and it is China that stood with African people when African countries struggled for independence.
African countries will not be interfered by any noise, Sall stressed, adding that African countries and China will continue to support and help each other and push forward the construction of Belt and Road and the building of a closer China-Africa community with a shared future.
