Less time to commute to the workplace? In China's southern city of Shenzhen, Chinese company BYD has installed the SkyShuttle rail transit system for employees who have to commute between offices, factories and apartments.
The stylish appearance of the rail transit system "Sky Shuttle" was designed by the company's chief designer – Wolfgang Egger, a world-renowned auto designer. The vehicle's body looks like that of a rising dragon, an adaptation of a classic Chinese figure. Greenery can be planted on poles and beams for the SkyShuttle track, contributing to the improvement of the urban environment.
Together with the subway, the future of urban rail transit represented by SkyShuttle creates an elevated transportation network that extends in all directions. Underground, ground-surface and elevated rail transport work together to offer convenience to commuters.
Imagine an urban rail network featuring a station every 300 meters, ending congestion once and for all.
The characteristics of urban rail transit involve energy conservation, land conservation, large volume transit, all-day service, reduced or no pollution, safety and punctuality.
Along with SkyShuttle, the company has debuted another monorail transit system called SkyRail, which has received a good market response. BYD has already signed cooperation agreements with several cities in China and many other countries including the Philippines, Cambodia and Egypt.
