A South African musician with a brain tumor played several notes on his guitar recently while undergoing a successful operation to remove the majority of the growth. Musa Manzini was given local anesthetic during what doctors call an awake craniotomy at Inkosi Albert Luthuli hospital in Durban. Manzini's strumming helped let the medical team know that their patient was doing well, said one of the neurosurgeons, Dr Rohen Harrichandparsad.
