CGTN's Liu Xin accepted the challenge to talk with Fox Business Network's Trish Regan on China-U.S. trade friction. Trish claimed that China is a huge economy and proposed the U.S. and China should move towards a zero-tariff trade regime. But the Trump administration is just doing the opposite, citing the trade deficit as a reason. On the issue of developing nation status, Liu Xin said "China wants to grow up" but China's per capita GDP is one-sixth of the U.S. The U.S. talks about a level playing field. But the U.S. is firmly established as a wealthy country, while China still has a lot to do in delivering prosperity to its people. Current affairs commentator Einar Tangen sat down with Global Watch to talk about Trump's "bilateral zero tariffs" idea and the unequal nature of the two economies, as well as whether the level playing field really is a fair game.
