The recent snowfall in northern China has imparted a unique charm to the Jinshanling Great Wall in Hebei Province, 140 kilometers northeast of Beijing. Though not as crowded as other well-known Great Wall sections like Badaling or Shanhaiguan, Jinshanling is especially adored by photographers.

Jinshanling Great Wall is nestled on the Big and Small Jinshan Mountains, hence its name. At present, it is still in possession of the best-preserved part of the Great Wall in the Ming Dynasty (1368-1644) with its original characteristics of ancient walls, fortresses and passes. Thus, as regards construction, it is in no way inferior to that of Badaling.
The peak season for sightseeing is usually from April to October, and its admission time and fee differ accordingly. It opens from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. during peak season with an admission fee of 65 yuan (less than 10 U.S. dollars), and from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. during low season with a fee of 55 yuan. For children under 1.2 meters, it offers free entrance.
For travelers from Beijing, it is recommended that you get to Beijing Dongzhimen Long Distance Bus Station first, and then take the local bus to Gubeikou Township. Upon arrival, you can easily take a local taxi and get to Jinshanling within 30 minutes.
