China and Switzerland have pledged to deepen economic and trade cooperation and further enhance innovative partnership.
Chinese Vice President Wang Qishan made the remarks on Tuesday when attending the China-Swiss Enterprise Innovation Conference at the invitation of Ueli Maurer, president of the Swiss Confederation.
Wang noted that China and Switzerland have had an the innovative strategic partnership since 2016, and the sound and smooth development between the two sides has set a good example for further cooperation between China and other European countries.
He urges both sides to further enhance political mutual trust, boost the free trade agreement and reinforce bilateral win-win cooperation.
Wang stressed that the continuous opening of China's financial sector has brought new opportunities for bilateral financial cooperation. The two sides can explore cooperation in the fields of intelligent manufacturing, digitalization, and new energy.
He called for joint efforts toward injecting more powerful momentum into the high-level innovation cooperation platform based on the consensus reached by the leaders of the two countries.
Maurer said he admired China's development and would continue to adhere to the one-China principle.
He added that the China-proposed Belt and Road Initiative has played a positive role in promoting multilateral trade and investment, and he is willing to attend the second Leaders' Roundtable Summit at the Belt and Road Forum (BRF) for International Cooperation.
