The 13th National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), China's top political advisory body, concluded its annual session Wednesday in Beijing.
The CPPCC is an important organ for multiparty cooperation and political consultation led by the Communist Party of China (CPC), and began its annual session this year on March 3.
A resolution on a work report of the Standing Committee of the 13th CPPCC National Committee, a report on the examination of proposals, and a political resolution on the second session of 13th CPPCC National Committee were approved at the closing meeting.
Wang Yang, member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee and chairman of the CPPCC National Committee, delivered a speech at the closing meeting.
The CPPCC should uphold the CPC leadership, firmly safeguard the core status of Xi Jinping, general secretary of the CPC Central Committee, the authority of the CPC Central Committee and its centralized, unified leadership, Wang Yang said.
CPPCC members need to further study Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era, Wang added.
Wang stressed the importance of the special committees of the CPPCC National Committee, urging to perform fundamental functions in CPPCC work.
Wang also said that CPPCC members need to advance representative democracy with innovative work.
