Italy is expected to be the first country among the G-7 nations to sign an MOU with China on the Belt and Road Initiative. In a sit-down with Chinese media, Italian Prime Minister Giuseppe Conte said Italy's maritime resources make it a natural fit for the economic program, and joining it would restore Italy's position as a hub of the European economy.
