Chinese President Xi Jinping on Wednesday said the traditional friendship between China and Tunisia will never change no matter how the situation changes.
He made the remark when meeting with Tunisian Prime Minister Youssef Chahed after the conclusion of the 2018 Beijing Summit of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation (FOCAC).
President Xi noted that China-Tunisia relations maintain a healthy and steady momentum of development and China will always support Tunisia in exploring a path of development that conforms to its own national conditions and the trend of the times.
China supports Tunisia in maintaining national stability and achieving economic and social development, Xi added.
He also stressed the two sides should strengthen exchanges of governance experiences, adding that China is willing to continue to push ahead with key projects and deepen cooperation in various fields, including space and tourism.
Both sides should work together on major international and regional issues to jointly safeguard the common interests of the vast number of developing countries, Xi added.
Chahed congratulated China on the success of the FOCAC Beijing summit and praised its fruitful results.
He singled out the eight major initiatives proposed by President Xi during the summit saying these measures will lift Sino-African relations to a new level.
Chahed also said Tunisia agrees to building a China-Africa community with a shared future and is keen on participating in the construction of the Belt and Road Initiative.
Tunisia hopes to learn from China's successful development experience and strengthen bilateral cooperation in economy, trade and other fields, Chahed added.
The Tunisian prime minister also said he welcomes Chinese enterprises to invest in Tunisia.
