Medical workers in China are celebrating their own festival for the first time on Sunday.
The proposal for establishing the national Medical Workers' Day was approved by the State Council on Nov. 3, 2017, making every Aug. 19 the day to acknowledge and commemorate the efforts of Chinese medical personnel.

Besides those who provide medical services in the city, there is a large number of medical practitioners active in China's rural areas where healthcare is still underdeveloped.
Under adverse working conditions, they have carried forward the humanitarian spirit and devoted themselves to the health of rural citizens.
