Fatiya Khadidja Moukaila, 24, has been working as a lab tester at China Road and Bridge Corporation (CRBC) in Togo.
Sponsored by her company, Fatiya went to Changsha in central China for undergraduate studies in civil engineering from 2012 to 2017.
She is one of 10 local students who have received economic support from the CRBC for their higher education in China.
She was recruited by the CRBC after returning home last summer.
Her main responsibility at work is testing soil, concrete and aggregate for the Lome Ring Road Project Phase II.
As the project’s lab tester, Fatiya is fully aware of the high quality of the construction. She says she is grateful to be able to take part in the project and thus contribute to building her country.
Fatiya believes more and more business opportunities will come along the ring road after it opens to traffic in 2019.
The Lome Ring Road Project is being constructed by China Road and Bridge Corporation (CRBC) with loans from the Export-Import Bank of China.
The ring road is 34.8 kilometers in length with four lanes in two directions, covering the eastern and northern areas of Togo’s capital city.
When completed, the Lome Ring Road will be able to divert transit traffic flows, increase goods circulation at Lome Port, relieve the city’s traffic pressure, and improve Lome’s connection with neighboring countries.
Its first phase was completed and opened to traffic at the end of 2014 while its second phase is now under construction and is expected to come into service in 2019.
The project contract was signed in 2008 under the 2006 China-Africa Cooperation Beijing Action Plan.
