Three people were killed after an explosion hit a residential building in Wujiang District of Suzhou, east China's Jiangsu Province on Friday morning, according to local police.

Videos and photos posted online show flames and smoke curling up around the windows of the building.

The fire has been extinguished, and the rescue work continues.

The explosion was caused by a gas leak, according to an initial investigation, said the police.
