Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov will visit the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) on May 31, at the invitation of the country's Foreign Minister Ri Yong Ho, Russian news agency Tass reported citing the foreign ministry.
"Negotiations between the foreign ministers are planned, which will focus on the current issues of the bilateral agenda and positions regarding the situation around the Korean Peninsula and other major international and regional problems," the Russian Foreign Ministry said in a statement released on Wednesday.
Earlier the same day, DPRK's state run media Korean Central News Agency (KCNA) also reported about the upcoming visit from Lavrov, without specifying the date.

Lavrov accepted the invitation to visit the DPRK during their meeting in Moscow.
This visit comes ahead of a possible summit next month between US President Donald Trump and DPRK leader Kim Jong Un in Singapore.
