Kang Sung-hoon has a four-shot lead in the second round of the PGA Tour's AT&T Byron Nelson tournament, as the South Korean sit at 12-under-par in the last event before next week's second major of the season, the PGA Championship.
Rory Sabbatini approached at six setting up his fourth birdie as the 2007 Masters runner-up, born in South Africa but now a citizen of Slovakia, was in fifth place at minus-10.
Tyler Duncan sank the fifth of his six birdies at 10. The 29-year-old American was tied for second at 12-under-par.
Three-time major winner Brooks Koepka drained his third birdie at 11, as the American geared up to defend his PGA Championship next week.
Koepka rolled in the first of what would be four birdies in a row on the same green, as the world number three continued to surge. The man who lost this tournament to Sergio Garcia in a playoff three years ago got the fifth of his seven birdies at 15. Koepka went on to end the day alone in fourth, at minus-11.
Kang kept building momentum by nailing his ninth birdie at 14. Teeing off into the bunker at 16 had no effect on him. The South Korean blasted out his approach to set up the last of his 10 birdies and tied the course record with a 61.
Kang led Matt Every and Duncan by four shots ahead of today's third round, followed by Koepka and Sabbatini. Local favorite Jordan Spieth was nine shots behind at seven-under-par. And former Dallas Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo, playing as an amateur after his NFL retirement, missed the cut by going eight-over in the first 36 holes.
