China-Uruguay ties have always maintained stability since the two sides established diplomatic ties 30 years ago, Chinese State Councilor and Foreign Minister Wang Yi said on Sunday while meeting his Uruguayan counterpart Rodolfo Nin Novoa in Beijing.
"This is not only due to the personal care and strategic leadership of the two leaders but because of the mutual respect and solid political foundation between the two countries."
Thus, we have confidence in the future of China-Uruguay relations, Wang added.
Wang spoke highly of Uruguay's strategic decision to strengthen ties with China, adding that China will further sum up the experience of 30 years of ties and plan for the next step and key areas of cooperation.

Novoa echoed Wang's stance that bilateral relations have continued to make positive progress between the two sides.
"China is a sincere friend of Uruguay," the minister said, adding that the cooperation between the two sides in the fields of economy, trade, culture, science, and technology has continued to deepen.
Novoa's 10-day visit to China includes the signing of a series of documents with the Chinese government regarding trade and the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI).
As the first South American Common Market member country that signed the memorandum of Understanding on Cooperation under the BRI, Uruguay intends to be a pivot point of cooperation between China and Latin America.
Both sides have also agreed to strengthen cooperation and oppose protectionism. The two countries will work together to protect an open global economy and the interests of developing countries.
As the third visit of the Uruguayan minister in two years, the high-level visit represents a big step towards the strengthening of bilateral ties.
In the next few days, the celebration of "Uruguay Week" in Chinese cities of Beijing, Chongqing and Guangzhou will further promote the Latin American country among Chinese people.
