Russia vowed to impose tariffs on certain US imports as retaliation to tariffs placed on steel and aluminum by the Trump administration, Russian Economy Minister Maxim Oreshkin said on Tuesday in Minsk, according to The Moscow Times.
He said that the additional tariffs will be applied to a range of US products but did not name them, noting the specific list will be released in coming days.
The products on the list have domestic equivalents in Russia so the retaliation measures will not hurt the national economy and domestic companies, according to Oreshkin.
So far, the European Union, China, India and Russia all have applied to the WTO to challenge the US tariffs increase on steel and aluminum that took effect on March 23.
