Chinese President Xi Jinping, also general secretary of the Communist Party of China Central Committee, sent congratulatory messages to Cuban leaders as the country celebrates the 60th anniversary of the Cuban Revolution on Tuesday.
In the letter addressing Raul Castro, first secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba, Xi commended Cuba's achievements in socialism over the past 60 years and applauded the traditional friendship between the two countries and two communist parties.
China and Cuba are good friends, comrades and brothers, and the relationship has withstood the test of time and changes in international situation, Xi said.
When addressing President Miguel Diaz-Canel, Xi said that China and Cuba agreed to write a new chapter in bilateral cooperation during the president's visit to Beijing in November, and China is willing to work with the Cuban government to further promote the ties.
