Xi: Broad consensus reached during the 2018 SCO Summit

"We have agreed to abide by the goals and principles of the SCO Charter, promoting good-neighborliness and friendship and deepening practical cooperation," Chinese President Xi Jinping made the remarks at the joint press conference of the 18th Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) Summit on Sunday.
Several documents including the Qingdao Declaration of the Council of Heads of Member States of the SCO and the Joint Statement of the Heads of Member States of the SCO on Promoting Trade Facilitation are issued.
An action plan for implementing the Treaty on Long-Term Good-Neighborliness, Friendship and Cooperation of the SCO Member States covering the next five years was ratified.

He said that the member states share the view that the world is undergoing major developments, transformation and adjustment, and security is the foundation for SCO's sustainable development.
"Economic globalization and regional integration are the compelling trend of our times," he added.

Expanding international interactions and cooperation, carrying out effective and bilateral cooperation in culture, and enhancing international cooperation partnership networks are important, he noted.
The member states also agreed that Kyrgyzstan will assume SCO's rotating presidency after this year's summit.
