Denver Nuggets beat the LA Lakers 124-107 to ruin LeBron James pre-season debut with his new team. The man known to fans as "The King" signed a four-year, 153 million US dollar contract to move to Los Angeles over the summer, as he seeks a fourth NBA title with his third different franchise.

The game took place in San Diego, and the fans exploded as LeBron took the court in purple and gold for the first time.

Denver jumped to a quick lead and never looked back, despite the four-time MVP's efforts to keep his new squad close.

The Nuggets held James to just nine points to go along with three rebounds and three assists in just 15 minutes of action.

The two teams will meet again tomorrow night, as LBJ continues to seek his first win since moving to Los Angeles.

Meanwhile, in another NBA pre-season game, Beijing Ducks visited Dallas to take on Mavericks. The Mavericks missed Ding Yanyuhang due to injury, as well as Dirk Nowitzki and Harrison Barnes. But the NBA side still managed to thrash Ducks thanks to the performance of new draft pick Luka Doncic and second year rookie Dennis Smith Jr.

It was Doncic, who scored 16 points as Mavericks wrapped up with 116-63.
