FINA World Championships: China win women’s 4x50m silver

After China's latest swimming sensation and world champion Xu Jiayu clinched a silver medal in the 100m backstroke, the day two of the 14th FINA World Swimming Championships (25m) 2018 in the east China city of Hangzhou also saw the Chinese women's relay team of Fu Yuanhui, Suo Ran, Wang Yichun and Wu Yue finished second in the 4x50 meters medley relay final.
Although they were outpaced by the hot favorite American team but the Chinese were fast enough to break the Asian record.

First was backstroke and Fu started well with the fastest reaction time of 0.58 seconds. The host country was third after the first 50 meters and the USA extended their lead in the breaststroke. The third leg was butterfly and Wang Yichun was the fastest, surging past the Japanese swimmer as she clinched the second spot in the race behind the US swimmers. 
China continued to trail the Americans and remained in the second place till the end to claim silver with an Asian record time of one minute, 44.32 seconds while the USA won the gold in a new world record time of one minute, 42.38 seconds.
