Chinese President Xi Jinping said Friday that joint building of the Belt and Road has opened up new space for the world's economic growth.
Xi made the remarks in a keynote speech at the opening ceremony of the Second Belt and Road Forum (BRF) for International Cooperation in Beijing.
Xi pointed out that the Belt and Road Initiative aims to focus on connectivity, to deepen practical cooperation and jointly tackle key challenges mankind is facing, so as to realize the mutual benefit, win-win cooperation and shared development.
He said the joint building of the Belt and Road has also created a new platform to boost international trade and investment, expanded new practices to optimize global economic governance, and made new contributions to improving people's well-being in all countries.
Under the joint efforts of all parties, a framework of "six corridors and six channels serving multiple countries and ports" has been formed and a large number of cooperation projects have landed, he added.
The Chinese president also noted that so far more than 150 countries and international organizations have signed cooperation documents on the Belt and Road Initiative with China.
