China firmly supports Saudi Arabia in its drive for economic diversification and social reform, and will continue to stick together with the Arab country on issues involving their core interests, President Xi Jinping told Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman on Friday.
At a meeting on the sidelines of the Group of 20 (G20) summit in Buenos Aires, Xi also called on the two nations to work together to better synergize the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) with the Saudi Vision 2030.
Xi said he is glad that the consensus reached by the two countries is gradually implemented.
China always views relations with Saudi Arabia from a strategic and long-term perspective, Xi added, noting the two nations established comprehensive strategic partnership.
The stability and development of Saudi Arabia is the cornerstone of the prosperity and progress of the Gulf region in the Middle East, Xi said.
Saudi Arabia supports China's development and supports the BRI, the Saudi crown prince said.
China has become Saudi Arabia's largest trading partner, he said, hoping to boost cooperation in investment and energy.
Saudi Arabia is willing to contribute to the development of friendly relations and cooperation between China and the Arab countries as well as the Islamic world, he said.
