Skiing is a highly dangerous sport because of high-speed along the courses full of curves. If an athlete gets hurt, the medical team must reach the spot within four minutes as required by the International Ski Federation. This means they need to be able to ski fast and safely while carrying medical instruments.
The committee in January held tests for 232 medical employees who have registered in Beijing and Hebei but found only 36 as qualified skiers. Han said there are 80 to 120 people needed and 187 are waiting for tests.

Under such circumstances, the committee is turning to northeast China or even overseas to look for more qualified members for the medical team.
In addition to medical service, the committee is also searching for talents both domestically and from foreign countries for other fields. It has already hired 14 international experts who have contributed a lot to many key technical problems in venue planning, course designing and competition organizing. The committee is also considering recruiting seven staffs from the organizing committee of the PyeongChang Winter Olympics to help with sports display and other key fields.
