The time for air pollution control is limited and everyone should join hands in tackling the problem, said Joyce Msuya, acting executive director of the United Nations Environment Program, in an interview with CGTN.
Msuya is in Hangzhou, eastern China's Zhejiang Province, for the World Environment Day, which is observed on June 5 every year. "According to the WHO, 13 people die every minute prematurely due to air pollution," she said.

"For the whole world at the aggregate level, there is progress but there is more to be done," she claimed.
Msuya, while referring to the theme of this year's World Environment Day "Beat Air Pollution," said "The beat is too slow."
"I think there is much more to be done on the soft side, the human part, but also on the policy and the partnership angle," she stressed.
She praised China's efforts in tackling air pollution, particularly in the past six years, hoping the country would achieve more in ensuring clean air and environment for its people.
