Heads of SCO member states issue Qingdao Declaration

Chinese President Xi Jinping and the other seven leaders of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) member states jointly issued the Qingdao Declaration in the eastern Chinese city of Qingdao.
Leaders attending the signing ceremony agreed to abide by the goals and principles of the SCO Charter, carry forward the "Shanghai Spirit" and jointly pursue regional peace, stability and development.

The Shanghai Spirit, which embodies the undergirding values and guidelines for the SCO, features mutual trust, mutual benefit, equality, consultation, respect for cultural diversity, and pursuit of common development.
Member nations also signed agreements covering trade, security and other issues.
