Over one hundred Irish journalists attended a vigil held in Dublin on Tuesday evening for Lyra McKee, a female journalist of Northern Ireland, who was recently killed in rioting that police have treated as a "terrorist incident."
The vigil, which was organized by the National Union of Journalists (NUJ) Ireland, was held at the Garden of Remembrance in downtown Dublin.
Candles were lit, songs and readings were performed at the vigil in memory of the murdered 29-year-old journalist.
Seamus Dooley, Irish secretary of NUJ, and many veteran journalists from various local media, attended the vigil which was held on the eve of the funeral for McKee.
McKee was shot dead by gunmen who fired at the police during a night riot in the border city Londonderry on April 18.
Her funeral service is scheduled to be held in Belfast, capital of Northern Ireland, on Wednesday afternoon.
Local media reported that both Irish President Michael D. Higgins and Prime Minister Leo Varadkar will attend the funeral for McKee.
It's reported that a dissident republican group calling itself the "New IRA" has claimed responsibility for the murder of McKee.
