The world's first ±1100-kv UHVDC (ultra high voltage direct current) transmission line was put into operation, becoming the project with the highest voltage, the biggest transmission capacity, the longest transmission distance and the most advanced technology in the world. The transmission line will cut coal transport by 30.24 million tons a year, and will be of great significance to China's optimization of resource allocation.
