Neymar, Mbappe limp off as Brazil, France win friendlies

Sports Scene

On Tuesday night, Brazil edged past Cameroon 1-0 in an international friendly in Milton Keynes in the UK. The Selecao got past Uruguay by the same margin on Friday at the Emirates Stadium and while Tite's men made it five wins in a row and seven without conceding a goal, they will leave England with the possibility of Neymar facing a timeout through injury.

The Brazil and Paris St Germain forward had to be withdrawn after just eight minutes into the game. After two minutes of attempting to get back on his feet, he was substituted with fans left disappointed.

But his replacement Richarlison got the game's only goal with a superb header from a corner a minute before halftime.

This was Brazil's sixth win in succession since they were knocked out of the World Cup in Russia by Belgium in July.

Close on the heels of Neymar's injury, his PSG teammate Kylian Mbappe had to be replaced in the first half after a nasty fall during France's 1-0 victory over Russia at Stade de France in Paris.

After the disappointment of seeing the Netherlands pip them to a place at the Nations League finals on Monday, Olivier Giroud's 52nd-minute penalty gave the hosts a consolation victory in a repeat of the two teams' World Cup quarter-final meeting in Russia.

Although both Brazil and France won their respective games, the injury of two of their key players has come as a big blow for PSG, who are facing Liverpool in a crucial Champions League clash at the Parc des Princes on November 28.
