China says people-to-people exchanges with U.S. to accord with common interests

The people-to-people exchanges and cooperation between China and the United States accord with the common interests of both countries, said China's Foreign Ministry spokesperson Geng Shuang at a regular meeting on Friday.
Geng made the remarks when asked about China's response to the U.S. officials' claim to strengthen the background checks for overseas students on Thursday.
"We hope that the U.S. side can view the issue with a correct view, in order to create better conditions for the people-to-people exchanges between both countries", said Geng Shuang.
