A total of 162 days, dozens of countries, and an expansive array of flowers and greenery – the Beijing International Horticultural Expo is already in full swing, and the host city will spend some time under the spotlight this week.
The China Pavilion Day is set for Thursday and will see 950 representatives from China and abroad attending the opening ceremony, visiting a flower exhibition, and enjoying an artistic performance at the Guirui Performance Center.
Since the Expo opened in April, the China Pavilion has received more than 1.3 million tourists.
Ye Dahua, curator of the China Pavilion, said the event aims to showcase not only a full spectrum of flowers and plants but also China's efforts in helping build a more ecologically balanced world.
"With the theme of Everlasting and Splendid China, we combine traditional horticultural techniques and modern digital media, to demonstrate the concept, achievements, regional characteristics and world influence of China's ecological civilization construction," Ye said.
