Google displayed an animated doodle marking the 30th anniversary of the World Wide Web (WWW) on March 12, 2019. The inventor of the WWW, Sir Tim Berners-Lee, was 33 when he submitted his proposal. The depiction showed the Earth revolving inside a computer connected to a switch on its letters. Berners-Lee had envisioned a database for his colleagues at CERN to share information. The software engineer's boss let him develop a humble flowchart into a working model.
