Visitors to the Beijing International Horticultural Exhibition, which aims at promoting eco-friendly lifestyles, seem to have heeded the call to go green as a new survey showed that they favor public transport to get to the venue.
According to the Beijing Municipal Commission of Transport, 64 percent of tourists have reached the expo through public transportation modes.
Buses proved to be the most popular transport type, with 45.9 percent taking tour buses and 13.1 percent getting to the destination aboard direct buses. Five percent of the visitors used the S2 rail line.

To bring convenience to commuters, seven bus lines have been launched since the expo's opening.
Bicycle parking areas were specially set up at the Yanqing Station of the S2 rail line and the P4 and P5 parking lots to encourage green travel.
The event, held under the theme "Live Green, Live Better," lasts until October 7. Forthcoming public festivals like the Dragon Boat Festival, Mid-Autumn Festival and National Day holiday are expected to bring pressure on the traffic.
