China's Zhang Wangli won all three gold medals in the women's 71kg during the 2018 World Weightlifting Championships in Ashgabat, Turkmenistan, on Tuesday, breaking the clean and jerk and total world records.
Zhang snatched 115kg, just 2kg below the world record, but 3kg higher than runner-up Nadezda Likhacheva of Kazakhstan, for her first gold medal at the event. Sara Ahmed of Egypt placed third after setting a junior world record with her 111kg snatch.
Zhang, 22, then set a world record in the clean and jerk with a lift of 152kg, beating the previous mark of 147kg. Ahmed finished second with a 141kg attempt, while Mattie Rogers of the United States finished third with 133kg.
Zhang, Ahmed and Likhacheva finished first, second and third on the podium, respectively, with weight totals of 267kg, 252kg and 242kg. Zhang's three gold medals were part of China's haul of five total at the competition.
"I came here just to break the world record and win the event," Zhang said after her dominating performance.
