Vice President of People's Daily Online Tang Weihong shared her views on video media and public opinion monitoring in an exclusive talk with CGTN Digital during the second CGTN Global Media Summit and the eighth Video Media Forum in Chongqing on Wednesday.
Tang asserted that it is an age of videos and live streams both for social media and traditional media, and videos are the highest form of media communication.
“Videos meet the demands from the young people as they prefer to approach information in video mode” Tang told CGTN Digital, adding that the demands from users have to be taken into consideration.
In the talk, Tang also touched on the connections of big data and measuring public sentiment. She submitted that big data has been widely used in measuring public sentiment and the strategic decisions are currently driven by public sentiment instead of experience.
China has been planning a big data strategy to facilitate economic development and improve people's livelihood. With the help of big data, measuring public sentiment can better social governance and can efficiently service enterprises, governments, and users.
With the theme of “Opening and Connecting the World,” journalists and professionals in the media industry from around the world attended the second CGTN Global Media Summit and the eighth Video Media Forum in Chongqing on October 16 and 17.
