This year's CAEXPO will pay close attention on innovation and relevant collaboration programs between China and ASEAN countries. A variety of exhibitions will be held to display the latest innovation achievements, including products centered on artificial intelligence, building a smart city, and environmental protection. Forums and seminars will also be focused on the theme of innovation.
Promoting trade and economic exchange between China and ASEAN countries has long been a priority of CAEXPO, and it is still an essential part of this year's expo. Investors, buyer groups and enterprises will join the expo to cement economic and trade relations. Eight ASEAN members – Brunei, Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, Thailand and Vietnam – will have pavilions this year, with attendees from each country's big name companies.
In addition to China and ASEAN countries, Tanzania, a country along the Belt and Road route has also been invited to attend as the Special Guest Country. The Special Guest Country mechanism was first launched at the 11th CAEXPO in 2014, with the purpose of strengthening exchanges between China, ASEAN countries and other economies. Tanzania is the first African country honored as the Special Guest Country.
