A 29-year-old Australian soldier dug a snow cave to survive below-freezing conditions for one week on the New Zealand resort of Wanaka. Rescue authorities saved Terry Harch from Mount Aspiring on Aug. 3. Incredibly, Harch was able to stand up and wave when the helicopter arrived.
