China is willing to cooperate with Liberia on many fronts, including poverty alleviation, agriculture, infrastructure and health.
Chinese President Xi Jinping made the pledge during talks with his Liberian counterpart George Weah in Beijing on Saturday.
Xi emphasized that the friendly ties between China and Liberia serve the interests of people from both countries.
Xi said China and Liberia should continue to understand and support each other on issues related to their core interests and major concerns.
Xi also promised that based on the contribution China has already made to the peace process in Liberia, it will continue to speak out to uphold justice for the latter.
President Xi also referred to Weah's former identity as a football star, saying he hopes Weah's popularity among Chinese football fans will push for more exchanges in sports among youths from both countries.
For his part, Weah thanked China for its support for his country, particularly pointing out the help China offered Liberia to fight the Ebola epidemic.
The Liberian president said his country supports and is willing to join the Belt and Road Initiative, and wishes for a successful Beijing Summit of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation.
