China and Caribbean countries join hands to seek mutual benefits

Chinese State Councilor and Foreign Minister Wang Yi on Thursday said China attaches high importance to developing friendly cooperation with Caribbean countries.
Wang made his remarks during the Seventh Round of Consultations between the Ministries of Foreign Affairs of the Caribbean Countries which have diplomatic relations with China and Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs, which was held in Beijing.
He told representatives of Caribbean sides that China expects Caribbean countries to play a more constructive role in the China-proposed Belt and Road Initiative.

In terms of Venezuela issues, Wang pointed out China has consistently pursued the principle of non-interference in other countries' internal affairs, and opposes foreign interference in the internal affairs of Venezuela.
China urges all parties to remain rational and calm and to seek a political resolution to the country's problem through peaceful dialogue within Venezuela's constitutional framework, which serves the interests of all relevant parties including Caribbean Countries, he added.
During this round of consultation, both sides have agreed to strengthen communication and coordination in terms of future cooperation.

Foreign Minister of the Commonwealth of Dominica Francine Baron said they greatly value the friendship with China.
She thanked the Chinese side for offering strong support and assistance to the economic and social development of Caribbean countries. 
Baron added that they have learned a lot from China's experience of economic development, and expressed willingness of strengthening cooperation on variety issues like climate change and Belt and Road Initiative.

From Barbados's Minister of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade Jerome Walcott's side, he also told Wang, Barbados expects to strengthen cooperation with China under the framework of the Belt and Road.
