April 23 marks World Book Day, an annual event designated by the UNESCO to promote reading, publishing, and copyright. This year, anchors from the China Media Group will take you on a journey through the exquisite works of Shakespeare to explore the beauty of literature and language.
In the eighth episode, China Plus hosts Zhong Qiu and Li Yuan reads “The Tragedy of Romeo and Juliet”, which was first published in a quarto version in 1597. Romeo and Juliet is a tragedy written by William Shakespeare early in his career about two young star-crossed lovers whose deaths ultimately reconcile their feuding families. It was among Shakespeare's most popular plays during his lifetime and along with Hamlet, is one of his most frequently performed plays. Today, the title characters are regarded as archetypal young lovers.
Zhong Qiu and Li Yuan both currently host Music Matters at China Plus.
