Operations to dismantle the bridge in Genoa that left 43 dead when it collapsed in August 2018, has begun with the first segment of nearly 40 meters that should be completed on February 9, 2019. A new bridge will be constructed at the site costing around 202 million euros (229 million U.S. dollars), and it is expected to open to traffic by April 2020.
