MOFA: Laser weapons attacks in East China Sea are 'baseless and pure fabrication'

Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Geng Shuang responded at the regular press conference on Friday that the laser weapons attack in East China Sea reported by the American media was "baseless and pure fabrication".
It is reported that, in the past few weeks, US military pilots have been attacked by Chinese ships with laser weapons as often as 20 times in the East China Sea.
The US Indo-Pacific Command said the attacks in the waterway were first reported last September and they would not give specific details about the incidents, but media reports quoting unidentified US officials said some of the fishing boats were Chinese-flagged vessels.
The Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman said that what the American media reported is totally "baseless and pure fabrication".
